The video below discusses who the course is for, a run down of each module and common FAQ's.

Meet Dr Raquel Butler

Biomechanical Medicine Veterinarian and lifelong horsewoman

I've loved horses for as long as I can remember, and my own horses have taught me some of my most important lessons.

Looking back, I can now recognise that many of the behaviours I struggled with were signs of pain, imbalance and poor posture - things I didn't understand at the time.

Those experiences helped shape my journey beyond conventional veterinary medicine and into Animal Biomechanical Medicine, where I've developed a deeper understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, bodywork and rehabilitation.

Today, through my practice and teaching, I help horse owners understand what their horses are telling them, recognise physical restrictions and compensation patterns, and develop the skills to help their horses move, feel and function better.

What Participants Say

Sue Ellen Michetti - Horse Owner

"The results have not only been noticed by myself but also by others, especially the body therapist treating my horse. She was so excited and amazed at the positive changes within my horses body after only a month following Raquel’s course and simple exercises."

Sinead McCann - Equine Bodyworker

"I got an incredible amount of information from this course that was easily applicable, useful and the results were evident, in just a few weeks I could clearly see changes in posture with my horse Jack."

Sharyna Sharman - Equine Bodyworker

"This has been life changing for us in learning more about our horses issues, unravelling what they are, and the best way to help them. Raquel is personable and approachable, with some much knowledge to share and has created a wonderful safe space to learn more about, discuss and share our horse journeys ."

Kylie McInnes - Horse Owner & Human Physiotherapist

"This course has provided us all with so many skills to take away to firstly identify if and where our horse has an issue but then skills on how to manually assist them with hands on techniques and then exercises on how to rehab the injury and improve overall posture and then function."

Theresa Toews- Horse Owner

"The positive changes in posture I saw with Wheeler every week overcoming old injuries. This was possible because of the excellent detailed feedback and support in classes. Dr. Raquel and Sophie both explain what and how to do things very clearly."

What You'll Learn in Each Module

Module 1: Postural Assessment

Before we can make meaningful changes, we need to understand what we're seeing.

By the end of Module 1, you'll be able to....

  • Recognise subtle postural cues that reveal how your horse really feels and functions

  •  Break down key areas of posture - from head carriage to limb alignment, and spinal balance

  •  Build a complete postural picture of your horse

  •  Really see what your horse’s body is telling you - so you can take  informed, confident action and apply appropriate functional exercises

Module 2: Physical Assessment

Then in Module 2, Physical Assessment, we add another layer to that picture by exploring what we can learn through our hands.

By the end of Module 2, you'll be able to....

  • Identify key physical areas that directly influence your horse’s posture and comfort
  • Enhance your palpation skills to feel muscular tension, scars, asymmetry, and functional restrictions
  • Connect the dots between what you see and what you feel - linking visual posture to palpable imbalances
  • Go beyond surface observation and start feeling the story behind your horse’s stance

Module 3: Feed to Form

In Module 3, Feed to Form, we look at how everyday care can become part of improving your horse's functional posture.

By the end of Module 3, you'll be able to....

  • Identify postural patterns during feeding that may impact movement, tension, or performance
  • Know how to use feeding environments to support your horse’s natural posture and stability every single day
  • Monitor and adjust feeding positions to reduce bracing and promote comfort and functional alignment
  • Turn everyday habits - like feeding - into powerful tools for postural change

Module 4: Spinal Mobilisations

Learn practical spinal mobilisation techniques to help your horse develop greater mobility and comfort.

By the end of Module 4, you'll be able to....

  • Guide your horse mindfully through spinal mobilisations, with clear intention and calm connection

  • Apply spinal mobilisation techniques with or without treats, adapting to your horse's learning style and comfort
  • Recognise signs of correct biomechancis, bracing, or fatigue during spinal mobilisations so you can tailor them to suit your horse's individual needs.

  •  Use movement as medicine - deliver spinal mobilisations with skill, softness and strategy

Module 5: The Dance Steps

We start working with the horse in movement, rather than focusing on posture in a standing position.

By the end of Module 5, you'll be able to....

  • Recognise signs of correct movement, balance, and functional control in movement exercises
  •  Implement targeted exercises to improve limb control and coordination
  • Confidently support your horse through purposeful movement exercises that enhance body awareness and postural stability
  •  Identify physical feedback - such as relaxation, bracing, or fatigue to adjust exercises for optimal results

Module 6: The Dance

We bring the movement work together, developing a more connected partnership between you and your horse.

By the end of Module 6, you'll be able to....

  • Support your horse in developing dynamic postural control during movement
  • Confidently apply movement-based exercises to refine your horse’s biomechanics
  • Recognise and refine alignment and flow - transforming motion into balanced, biomechanical strength
  • Strengthen your communication and partnership through purposeful, connected movement

Testimonials

Vanessa Samuels -
Horse Owner

"It has helped improve the posture of my horse, in both standing and eating, and moving. I now have a whole library of exercises, mobilisations and activations to use with my horse on a daily basis.

I learned to slow things down and give the horse time to process everything and that observation is so powerful.

I noticed a huge improvement in her posture, which will give her strength to cross over to her ridden work.

Absolutely just do it, it is an awesome course for you and your horse."

Anne-Maree Cowell - Equine Body Therapy Practitioner

"EFP created greater awareness of posture and what is possible to improve.

My biggest takeaways were observe, address underlying limiting factors and be proactive in helping your horses.

I highly recommend you do this course, it gives you valuable information and skills to really help your horse in a life changing way. Commit the time and you will learn so much."

Jessica Raymont -
Horse Owner

"I loved reconnecting with my horse and seeing the change for the better in her posture and attitude. Mentally Ella is much less stressed out. She is returning to her very sweet self. Physically her hindquarters have evened up and softened. Her neck is lifted and the brace in her back and belly is gone.

The course has enabled me to better assess problems with my horses and create a plan to help them.

A key takeaway is small movements can have a big impact, don't rush/take time to breathe.

Do it! It's so worth it."
